Darjeeling once known as the queen of hills is surrounded by the mighty Himalayan chain of Mt Kanchendzonga 8589 Mts (3rd highest mountain in the world) & by tea gardens.

The trek, which is also known as “Singalila Trek” begins from Manibhanjyan altitude 2000 Mts & the highest point of the trek is Sandakpu 3636 Mts. This trek is one of the most beautiful treks in India, though it is considered being a fairly easy trek. It is very scenic & interesting, as we walk through the forest of cedars, Magnolia, Pines, and Chest Nuts & Rhododendrons. During the trek one can see the local people & their daily activities, as we will come across some villages, the night will be either in a “tent” or in a local house which is know as a trekker’s hut, which will be sometime in India or in Nepal. This part of Himalaya is also home to the Himalayan black bear, musk deer, leopard & “Himalayan Red Panda” which is a rare endangered & shy animal. Though it is difficult to spot it easily but if you are lucky enough you may come across one of them while crossing a path or on the top of cedar trees. The view from Sandakpu to “Kanchendzonga” & “Everst” range is unforgettable as one can see the four out of five highest mountains in the world. Namely:
- Sagarmatha or Mt. Everest 8848 mts,
- Mt. Kanchendzonga 8589 mts
- Lotse 8516mts &
- Mahakalu 8463

Apart from the trek one can enjoy a visit of famous Darjeeling tea garden, Tibetan refugee self help centre & a ride of steam engine “toy train”, which is running here since more than 100 years now.
